He was instrumental in getting those walk-through x-ray scanners in all airports following 9/11. If I remember correctly, he was an owner of the scanner company.

Also his nephew Benjamin Chertoff wrote the "debunking 9/11 conspiracy theories" issue of Popular Mechanics magazine.
