You are conflating different things, but your argument is valid. I will point out that I’ve watched you dismantle many a power mod over the years, it’s a pity that you changed your stance.
If you look back at the original intent of protect voat, it was supposed to be only directed at public Subs.
The creator of PV, Scandinavian, said it best, that a forced free speech for all wherever only works in a homogeneous group.
It slowly moved towards the same thing for private Subs and I got caught up in that.
It would be the difference in a power cracking down on international waters versus the power cracking down on who gets into their country.
I very much was wrong to go after the private Subs.
Many of us got involved with that, but it did allow free speech to flourish, in a way that was contrary to reddit. In its time and place, PV was a logical response.
There was also a subversive element from reddit that tried to seize control on Voat, the Voat immune system helped negate that.
Like all things, it probably went too far, and ran its course. But at the time, it served its purpose. I personally believe that you’ve over corrected, but that’s understandable considering the relentless attack you endured.
