You may or may not be in an area affected by a natural disaster recently, and because of the .com and housing bubbles, you're competing with people with 10 years of experience in white collar jobs for a job bagging groceries at your local five and dime. Your expensive endeavor of pursuing an education to better yourself was all a fantastic lie, and your performance in college was exaggerated by the chaff they admit who have easy access to federal loans, fill out the 6 deep football roster, and have inflated tuition greatly. The most vocal republicans see you as a parasite. The ones that perhaps resisted the piecemeal sale of this country to China and other foreign entities keep a low profile. Democrats have you by the balls. They're playing identity politics, they're going to make that $400/month student loan debt go away, and they were against those wars all of those late night comedians keep telling you to be outraged by (which you should, but for completely different reasons).

But then in 2016, you've had 8 years of Barrack Obama. Nothing changed except there has been barely any economic recovery and black people are really into identity politics and everyone on the left that you grew to be friends with is becoming a rabid church lady type with social justice being their black tar heroin. White identity is a liability, everyone's clutching to their 23 and me saying they are 2.5% Lakota Indian acting as if it is some kind of accomplishment. Bernie had the nomination stolen by the democratic party, Hillary, a person you saw stand by a quirky but unfaithful POTUS in the 90's when you were a kid strikes you as the same sort of person who ran the country since you can remember, Obama, Bush, Clinton, and hell Bush 1 and Raegan if you are old enough.

At this point, you may or may not realize how fucked you are, were, and are going to be.

So you vote Trump.

And you start to lose all of your friends when they find out. And then the television won't stop a) mocking b) accusing and c) attacking Trump. He doesn't gain traction on any of his campaign promises and you just committed social suicide. He's been accused of raping women, he's been accused of colluding with the evil Russians you've played countless videogames and seen movies of the nefarious plots. You regret your vote more than your college degree because you can skip a student loan payment you can't reacquaint with everyone who just called you a white nationalist. And then, for no reason at all, this man you gave everything to and for starts to round up the vast majority of the government, try them with treason, and execute "some" of them. It doesn't stop with a supreme court justice. It doesn't stop with members of CIA, FBI, DOJ, and NSA. It doesn't stop. Govenors, state senators, community organizers up against the fucking wall. You think you might even be next. The media is outright calling him Hitler reincarnate and for all you know, see, and have been taught he is. You are asked to join Antifa. Do you?

Firstly, psychology and psychological warfare is fairly advanced at this point. Cause and effect is no mystery. Anyone claiming otherwise has revealed themselves to you.

Additionally, we know research into psychology and behavior prediction of massive groups was well under way in the 1980s. To better understand this, look up asimov's psychohistory. Yes, it's real. Time travel absolutely is not required. Looking Glass is basically psychohistory. If you control enough levers on society they can very accurately predict the social response to them. It's far enough into the future because it takes time to pull the levers and allow for the new social reality to spread. Forcing more quickly it would in fact have a contrary effect as it would be socially perceived as inorganic and it would change our behavior away from the prediction.
