Never had quail but have had chickens. I have always wanted quail but not for eggs bur for meat. I wish they could incubate there own eggs like chickens.
Yes that’s the main reason I’m going to dispatch them. The incubation failure is too high for these birds
I dont want to deal with incubating. I grew up breeding all sort of animals. However incubating eggs is a no go. To much extra work. I almost bought a pair of Gambles quail which I can only otherwise get while quail hunting. However even though the mom will raise the chicks. They are seasonal. So a clutch every spring. I wanted them more for pets to be honest.
Nope, you are doing it wrong. I have had hatch rates over 75%. Higher with button quail. Study incubation and do it better.
