I don't know if you saw the photo of him that I posted in the other comment, but I thought he looked a little "under the weather" because of how fluffed up he was and how soft his eyes looked. I wasn't sure though, because I haven't had quail, but I think perhaps the chicken and quail have very similar tendencies.
They are similar to chickens.
After about the 10 day mark, they're usually survivors unless it's just a weak bird. I'm not surprised it was a white one.
Also, I'll get you a picture of a no-waste feeder. You have to contain the whole head. When they take a bite, they like to shake their heads around and toss feed. There are a lot of ok ones on youtube, but I think I have it mastered at this point. Zero feed makes it to the ground.
I did this quickly, but it's raining so I didn't empty the bottom yet. No way to tell how much waste.
That's better than nothing as a temporary fix. When they get bigger especially, they'll toss feed out of that like crazy.
They look good and fully feathered.
