Cool. Now that you mentioned that, I'm curious. I've heard of people feeding pigs a certain diet. Of course it changes how they taste when you eat them. Have you ever tried changing up their diet, to change the taste?
I've never noticed a difference in butchered 8 week olds fed only the 28% protein feed and butchered 6 month old layers fed treats and other weird stuff.
Maybe this spring I'll quarantine one and feed him nothing but sour patch kids or onions or something?
If memory serves me, the pigs were fed the leftover mash from the whiskey production. I can't remember what animal it was, someone said it nothing but I think blueberries? Meh, just curious.
Midwestern corn-fed beef tastes better than western grass-fed beef. You're citing a real thing, but I just don't know what it would take to alter the taste of a coturnix.
