The speaker of the House race is all theater IMHO. It brings eyeballs of the normies. A few days of the House doing nothing but voting for speaker is no big deal in the grand scheme of things. I think the odds of McCarthy getting the gavel are below 50%. But the theater needs to play out before someone else gets the votes. This also lets Trump see where people stand. By Trump endorsing McCarthy, he keeps the dems from crossing over for him. You have to find out who are the weeds. So enjoy your popcorn.

I had overlooked the Trump angle. With Trump support, Jim Jordan nominating him and praising his work, I better understand why AOC said they were against supporting McCarthy yesterday.

Exactly. Deadlocked. A MAGA fueled red wave and no one to captain the ship?? Interesting indeed. But who could fill those shoes. Did you know you don’t have to be a member of congress to be Speaker of the House…. But, who could fill those shoes….

At the same time former DNI Ratcliffe’s suit goes to the Supreme Court. Hundreds of defendants on the docket, including Biden in regards to Chinese election interference. Did you know the speaker of the house is 3rd in line for the presidency. I guess that would make one guy in particular twice as legitimate…

Don't hold your breath for Trump to be speaker. It is a very entertaining thought, but odds are incredibly poor to get the votes for that and Trump has expressed no interest in the position. McCarthy would be easier, though the Dems consider him toxic because Trump backs him, I doubt McCarthy will succeed. Scalise, Gohmert, - somebody like that might be successful. For McCarthy to win, the GOPe will have to do some serious deep knee bending, to Trump's liking. For now, the GOPe scoundrels will squirm in the wind until they realize they are handcuffed and Trump/MAGA has the only key. It may be a while, they aren't that bright when they have to change course because someone destroyed their playbook.
