Fun Fact: It's interesting that Shiva's complaining about plagiarism - bc you know how he learned about PO? From me. I called him after he lost the election bc he wouldn't get off the machine crap - which is a problem - but not the REAL problem. To Shiva's credit, he called me back. I told him that PO was running the election show, and he didn't know anything about him other than Intercept and eb-y. I mentioned all the groups he diagrammed and some of the people. To his credit, he put it in a good graphic and added additional players. We got "disconnected" - maybe a call-drop, but I thought he also could have thought I was crazy and hung up. He kept asking "Omid-ar?" And I kept saying "yes" and naming more connections. Keep in mind that PO has strong ties to MIT - as does Shiva - so I was a little concerned about his reactionh.
So...there are a couple people I keep in touch with about elections and I told them about my conversation with S - and frankly, that I thought he discounted everything I told him. I was watching the Lindell symposium live, and imagine my surprise when I saw S's presentation. I got a call from someone in attendance who knew I'd spoken with S and the content of our discussion. They laughed and said "I liked your presentation." Then asked if I was angry, and I said "no - I'm glad the info's getting out, but a 'I got a tip from someone' would have been a nice gesture." PO wasn't even on S's radar.
It also disappoints me bc this is an example of how we don't help each other. I would have loved to work with S on this - could have saved him a LOT of research time and added information (which I'll be subsequently doing.) He could have helped me get an intro to Lindell's group - which has ignored me to date, but he didn't. And now he's complaining about plagiarism when he wasn't exactly kind to the person who dumped PO in his lap in the first place.
And finally - S complains about being suppressed for two years - I'm sure he was - and he has connections. I do not. So for anyone here who's heard my complaints about getting nowhere with this for nearly seven years, you can see why I feel that way.
Glad you talked to Shiva and grateful he listened.

Yes, I'm glad it's finally getting visibility, but I don't know that you really understand my disappointment - no offense. There's something about the way you worded this that really bothers me - like, "too bad - guess he has a team in Boston." You haven't done original research that you've hammered on doors that are shut in your face. You haven't OVER YEARS contacted people who SHOULD care and been ignored and in a few cases, treated rudely.
So, no, you do not understand. All I've ever wanted is to be working with a group on this - a group where members complemented each others strengths.
I've posted about the information in that graphic in several platforms over the years (thank you for pointing this out,) and you know how much attention it got? About zero. Because too many people only consider something credible if it comes from a known media platform - They won't even look at it for consideration. Heck, you won't even up-vote to a comment in which someone gives a juicy first-hand back story. And, yes, I know there'll be people jumping me for discussing up-votes, but it's not the points - it's the visibility and letting someone know you hear them.
I'm probably out of line saying this, and I'll probably regret it, but this whole thing has profoundly affected my life in ways you do not know.
