Ceorge Carlin had an entire bit about how "they" own everything - including the judges. The entire facade presented to Americans is to give an illusion of choice.
Honestly, the best alternative may be that some states break away and kick the Feds out - at least then some version of the USA may still be able to exist into the future. If not, then the entire dream of the US is dead and those who want to pursue life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness have to gather together somewhere, stake their claim, build it and then defend it.

Defending it can be hard with the weapons the other side has. You'd need time to build and time to aquire arms. Time they would never intentionally give.
Today's weapons are spy weapons.
Which would you rather have. A gun but literally not even know who your enemy is, let alone where they are.
Or a knife and their daily routines down to exactly who they talk to, when, what they say, what they view online, where they are at ANY time of the day, all of their contact networks, all their messages / speech, etc.
