Just playing devil's advocate here. Hopefully he truly does take his personal security seriously and knows how to defend himself.
I've never had a personal security detail myself but I'm going to go out on a limb and say if they are doing the job for money, they can't be that hard to influence by the right people.
Either way, good on him if he lets the truth be seen/heard.
