Yep, that's exactly what I've noticed. John Oliver, Colbert and Kimmel all do this. Trevor Noah tries, but fails spectacularly

amazing that people would get their news from comedians. i wonder where they get their health and financial advice from?

They're sheep, incapable of independent thought

A contrary point to yours, would be that one place I rarely go to for reliable news, is "The news".

This is the overarching truth right now. PROGRAMMING. It's called programming for a reason. I repeat this as often as I can...

I have been in the entertainment industry for many years. I tell people every chance I get that the news media is made by the same people who make Marvel multiverse tv shows, super hero movies, car chases that defy physics, doctor shows, cop shows, and fake scenes of all kinds, from crowds to natural disasters. They can make hundreds of latex masks OVERNIGHT, and change someone from a human to a ghoul in an instant. The news production buildings are on the same production lots as all the fake productions, prop houses, wardroobe, and in some cases right next to the theme parks. Fake news. Fake fake fake.

The laugh track mocking programming is something that once you say, " That's not funny", and you here it consciously you start wondering why it's there and why it's STILL there, and BEEN there for so long! It's programming compliance, and it's mocking something, so you're embarrassed or easily controlled if someone laughs at you.

Hollywood is a sick twisted place!

It's also interesting if you go back and watch old MeTV ttyl8r shows and see laugh tracks all over oldies you think are so innocent. What were they programming? Dick van Dyke - mocking dads, bosses, whiney moms Love boat - affairs, inept people, drinking

Live studio audiences have laugh track to start laughter. They used to hire laughed as plants to get it started. They also hired warm up comics to get people in laughing state. There are APPLAUSE signs, and people are instructed how&when to applaud. Fake. More Fake. Not funny. Not APPLAUSE worthy of you have to prompt people to applaud.

John Oliver's routine is so patently blatant and obvious that I've always wondered if the whole thing, including the audience responses, was scripted. The beats are exactly as anon describes. Cobert and Kimmel are similar but more subtle and delivered with at least a little variety. John Stewart did it the best and at the time you didn't even see it as propaganda, but watching his stuff now with less innocent and naive eyes it's pretty obvious.

Oliver is so fucking hamfisted and obvious though, it really is hard for me to believe that there's an actual audience out there that willingly watches and laughs at his 1-2-3 drivel. Fucking clown world.

Television has been programming the susceptible since its inception. Especially the advertising.

They use guns. We're too morally righteous for guns. We use swords.

Good guys ain't gonna win until they start using all the techniques they think are "bad guy techniques".
