Clearly better to arm yourself than rely on local law enforcement, no?

I was in Uvalde a month or two after the shooting. Trump flags all over the place. And a mostly hispanic population. This is why I get testy over people who are like "fuck hispanics" and the like. The native Texas hispanics really aren't that different from the native Texan whites. Sure, there are some stupid liberal hispanics just like there are stupid liberal whites. But the majority of those who I know are reliably conservative, strong on family values, and Christian. They also think fags and trannies are gross. And note that I am distinguishing them from illegals. The native Texas brown people don't like illegals any more than any of us.

Whites and hispanics in Texas go waaaay back. The Texan army fighting against Mexico had plenty of hispanics, and many of the first Texas settlers in the day of the republic were hispanic.

Wow, thanks for posting this!

Too bad Abbott isn't doing more against the illegals tho.

Agree. Hoping Kari Lake wins and shows him how to do it

I figured Lake would win for sure. Something isn't right in Arizona. Hopefully she does pull it off, but I'm not optimistic anymore.

Noted and confirmed.

"It’s hard to imagine now but Abbott actually campaigned as an inclusive moderate when he first ran for governor in 2014, after serving 13 years as state attorney general. At a time when others in the Republican Party were flaunting their nativism, Abbott’s campaign for governor was not shy about advertising the fact that his wife, Cecilia, was the granddaughter of Mexican immigrants.

What is Abbott’s angle? In the increasingly complicated purple state of Texas, it could be as simple as survival. He underestimated the ferocity of the COVID-19 pandemic, and he showed poor leadership during last winter’s energy outage where some Texans had to burn their furniture just to stay warm."
