DEVELOPING: It's going to be a rough next two years for Director Wray judging from the report on FBI politicization and corruption released today by Rep. Jordan, the presumptive future chair of House Judiciary. "Wray has failed" to clean up the bureau, the report concludes based on FBI whistleblowers. Jordan & GOP plan tough oversight of Wray & the FBI following the midterms. I'm told they'll formally call for the resignation of Wray, whose 10-year term expires 2027, and possibly hold him in contempt if he continues to withhold requested FBI docs. I'm also told staffers have been tasked with researching the possible drafting of articles of impeachment. Like all “civil officers of the United States,” the FBI director can be impeached for “high crimes and misdemeanors”

BREAKING: The FBI under the leadership of Director Wray and chief of staff Jon Lenzner (a Democrat and Clinton donor) has been shifting personnel and other resources from Islamic counterterrorism to domestic terrorism (Trump), public corruption (Trump) and counterespionage (Trump). This is an acceleration of a trend started under the leadership of Director Comey. A June 2017 email from Peter Strzok reveals that former Comey deputy and then-acting director McCabe reassigned counterterrorism agents to investigate Trump. "I still need to email CT [CounterTerrorism Division] to let them know about the bodies they're losing," Strzok wrote. (Wray's top aide Lenzner contributed at least $1,700 to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, Federal Election Commission records show.)
