One of my Aunt's married and moved to Centerville, PA in the '50s (western PA about 45min south-south-east of Erie). My dad drove our family out to visit them for 2 weeks in the mid-70s. I've always admired the Amish for their self sufficiency, adherence to the Bible and close community. Wonderful people. Quality work. Honesty. A culture with a lot to admire. The language looks like a challenge, is it dramatically different than German?
I have to ask. Do you have a beard, bro? Lol!
I have seen them often abuse their farm animals and children. Some can be quite harsh and of course, very judgmental and unforgiven.
Amish don't have exclusivity to those faults. I've seen/heard of the same here in the northeast. We are all human, and most have regrets at what was once said/done in the heat of the moment.
