VERY good point and you pretty much just summarized the whole situation/strategy. We're looking at a 3-6 month timeline for these types of things. They can use delay tactics such as, "this evidence is part of an active investigation and could result in further danger to the victims. Until the investigation is completed, it needs to be kept private." And then we have to wait for a higher court to smack this down. This has happened multiple times in police bodycam footage - months to get the footage for local news agencies.
