I just got back from 4 days of driving through california and nevada, and i saw several very long freight trains parked on long stretches of tracks in the boonies. personally, i think the freight strike was not averted. one train for sure was parked mon thurs through a corridor in the nevada desert near vegas that they are always moving through. these had oil containers as well as closed freight shipping containers and car carriers.

There has been some serious corporate Fuckery in railroading across the nation, from gasoline rationing drama for no reason, to firing or laying off senior engineers over bullshit, to more mainline derailments in a week than we’ve seen before in a year.

I knew there was fuckery, but I didn't know about the ones you mention! I know they hit ave pissed off the remaining staff enough for them to want to strike.

I was at LA Union station the day the strike was supposed to start, and there were news trucks and a tension in the air with people talking about it. It was such a weird non news story when It didn't happen.

News isn’t news, it’s fear porn and 99% false. In fact, 98% of everything on TV is to force viewers to behave and think a certain way. California is the brainwashing state.

Very true, but sometimes we turn it on to see the party line.

Unless it’s the news about derailments, firings and corporate fuckery you just commented about.

Or was that original research?

I’m actually with you on this by the way, and I also think it’s deliberate.

But it’s just funny that we do the same thing they do. “OUR news is the right news!!!!”

Often happens that railroad crews reach their Federal maximum hours in some remote place due to delays on congested rail lines. They are forced to stop and wait for new crews to be driven to their location to resume service. Just government regulation improving the efficiency and economy of business as always.

I hope that's the case, but having driven this way over the years, it seemed odd there were several togethed, and some hadn't moved over days.

They also like to store empty stock on sidings in the desert because metal lasts for centuries out there without getting rusted or vandalized. If there were no locomotives, that may be what you were seeing.

There were locomotives and helped engines.

It's part of their controlled demolition of the US and upcoming accident with Biden, a State of Emergency declared and elections canceled while Kamaltoe gets a free half term.

I wondered this myself! Honestly, I didn't want to be the one to say it. I hope we are wrong on the rumors, but we have eyes to see the subtle shit that's 'off' in the country. That's why I posted it.

Gas prices have gone up 40-50 cents since Monday. $5.69/G in California.

i have to ask this. Is it possible they were empty cars? I live near where they park empty cars for periods of time...

We could see that some were full, but some were very far from any depot or hub areas, and when we see them here they are always moving.

Will be on the road all next week, and let you know what I see.

Gas prices have shot up this week as well here.

Small update, I did see a moving freight train in Reno.

Worked two and a half years as BMWE before and when starting college. Observation and attention convinced me that all RR activities including unions are federally controlled by contract and regulation. Probably since the 1900,s or earlier. If something is happening, government is directing it.
