The Special Master was to protect attorney client privileged documents belonging to Trump from the prying eyes of the corrupt DOJ. It is a moot point as the DOJ has already gone through all the documents because the judge refused to place an injunction on the DOJ to prevent them from looking at the documents before the decision on a Special Master. The Judiciary wants Trump gone as well.
