The books of the prophets were written by those prophets or by those who knew them, not the fucking pope. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were contemporary with Jesus. They were his apostles. They lived and traveled with him and were part of it all. Paul, who wrote most of the rest of the NT, came soon after, not hundreds of years.
