It's also not a practice limited to "the American left" to be used against their political opposition. It originated with just basic online trolling, to the point where they cross the line.

Viewers would call a police department near their target Twitch streamer or w/e, and make some outrageous claim like "there is someone here holding my family hostage with a weapon", and describe their target as the perpetrator, or claim to be the target in a rampage ready to murder their family; anything to get a MASSIVE police response. Their goals vary, some are just doing it to watch this poor victim suffer on stream. Others are doing it with murder in their hearts, intending that the responding police officers end up killing their targeted victim.

I don't think it's been used against very much politicians until very recently; think about it, Marjorie's local PD gets a call with some outrageous shit. Their local PD absolutely has a way to reach Marjorie, so they'd call her and be like "hey are you being held at gunpoint or something?" and she would say "No lol" and then the caller would be tracked down. Some people have had so many swat calls made against them, that the police won't respond to those addresses because they know it's a bullshit call. It's hard to believe that MJT would be swatted twice in a row like this.... unless the police were being motivated to do so.
