"Leaving her kids behind was an easy decision any parent would make"? A five and seven year old in a park? And the kids were to count on the "acquaintance" to help them out if needed? I think the punishment is ridiculous but no, I'd never leave my kids alone. Especially in a park. Might be more to this though.
