Her lungs were probably scorched by the fire which would cause them to gradually fill with fluid, leading to hypoxia (lack of oxygen) even on a ventilator. Hypoxia leads to brain death. EMTs would cover her face if it was burned knowing that tabloids would love to have photos of a celebrity's burned face. She would try to remove the cover to breathe easier. If you want to kill someone, there are certainly more reliable ways than giving a person cocaine and a mini Cooper.
