I've been trying to put myself in Alex's position, wondering how I would handle it. He's on the hook for 50 million dollars (give or take) for something he didn't do. The trial process was a complete farce. Strangely, I haven't heard a word from him about appealing or challenging the verdict. Not a word, yet. Alex hasn't got 50 million dollars. He might have been able to pay the first judgment against him, a little over four million, but 50 million? Not a chance in hell he's ever going to pay that.

The purpose of the prosecution and trial was to shut down his business. But that isn't the purpose of the justice system. It doesn't exist to shut down legitimate businesses, it exists to pronounce judgments concerning crimes. Alex committed no crime. He never actually said the name of the couple who sued him. How were they injured in any way? Answer, they weren't. They let themselves get talked into a big money day by lawyers out to get Alex.

So what does he do? Can he continue his business, or will he be forced to sell off his assets? Does his bankruptcy declaration protect his business? Will his income be garnered by the court? It's a hell of a situation to be in, and it's totally unjust.

Per Robert Barnes, Jones former attorney:

"By law in Texas, this is reduced to $750K per plaintiff, so it's actually $1.5M not $45M. Also, like everything else in the trial, a product of a court that denied Jones any evidence on his side or any witnesses at this stage, and should be set aside by Texas Supremes."
