Mind sharing some pics of your setup? Sounds impressive.
I can't show pics because I would incriminate myself. The grow is currently a 20 plant indica show. 20 lbs @ 3k a pound. Simply put, 6x6 studs insulated to the max 1/2 inch fire rock on a concrete slab milar roof membrane over R 48. I run gal buckets with net pots that have marbles and use rockwool cube clones from a mother plant. I use a 50 Gal tank running RO or Distilled water and nutrients. It flows on a timer through a manifold thats X4 into a string of five and flows back to the tank. All on timers and level sensing pumps. My lights are on timers and my CO2 supplimentation are also on timers to come on 15 minutes before lights. Its all a coordinated dance. The same technique works for one plant let alone thousands. Indoors you can grow a collection of plants on the same system and timing. 18 hours to grow and 12 hours to enduce flowering or final growth. The aquaponic is the same show with the lights and CO2, its the fish are now in the nutrient tank. They eat at the roots and the waste adds to the nutrients in harmony. Its all very simple. I described a horixontal system and tank. You can do it vertical on PVC posts that have the nutrients plumbed to the top of the stalk as you have plants posted on the sides of the stalk. See pics with a search. Your asking the right questions in your mind, it all comes togother very easy. All the stuff you need is cheap at Home Depot or the likes. Best tomatos ever. Get your seed stock right from the start. You DO NOT want crap seed stock or clones of junk. A clone is a snip from a healthy donar. Learn about it and your king.
