Food production and distribution networks are obviously under attack with the various different incidents affecting different parts of the system all at once. You can see the intentionality there.
The power grid seems to be vulnerable to EMP and weather attacks. The Texas blizzard is an example of a weather attack on the power grid. But on the other hand this just seems like an accident.
Although I do see how it could be part of an effort to drive inflation and wreck the economy by creating a shortage of natural gas to companies and manufacturers.

I don't have a good answer why other than that we are at or approaching limits on energy and planetary resources. We let things just be and we speed into the brick wall of reality that there is not infinite resources. Societal change will happen by plan or by nature as the bounty of energy we have come to depend on cannot be sustained forever, we need some major tech breakthrough fast if that's gonna bail us out, else we don't have the energy to sustain.
Perhaps the plan is to bring that pain now in attempt to hedge the damage that could be.
That plan appears to be starve world economy of food and energy, both being closely intertwined anyway. I do think many could starve and freeze if they pull it off. There will be chaos as this is an orchestrated disaster that's the plan I guess.
Reduce world pop is the goal in my opinion.
