Actually that's not true about Chicago being a "gun free zone". People can and do own and carry legal firearms in the city. Since the Supreme Court over ruled their ban in 2010. Of course they have made it as difficult as possible for those that live within the city and a lot of businesses put up "no gun" signs, but a lot of progress has been made. While they are never well publicized, you can find stories of successful self defense with a fire arm. as always, I refer you to when data on Chicago gun crime is the subject. which shows in one chart (for 2021), 5 killed and 7 wounded in legal self defense cases for the year. This really is nothing new for this city Just a different year
