Perhaps they should be practicing the navigation of their ships without "bumping" into things - like other ships or "sea mountains". Have you read the report about the USS Connecticut? The Admiral was getting ready to replace the captain for no-confidence a half-year before they went on their last deployment. He was overruled. The crew regularly never took depth soundings - and when the equipment broke, never notified the officers that the equipment was out and they were flying blind. You just can't make this shit up.
