The crew regularly never took depth soundings - and when the equipment broke, never notified the officers that the equipment was out and they were flying blind. You just can't make this shit up.
The United States of America is being intentionally dismantled and brought low. This episode is just the latest salvo employed in the death by a thousand cuts stratagem.
