To be fair, it is kind of a stupid plan. They suspended the gas tax here and all that happened was that the gas stations raised their prices a couple days later back up to where they were before so they could have higher profits.

Gas stations make very little profit from petrol. Their profit stems from selling food and stuff.

And the prices are highly competitive. People will drive further for cheaper.
