In America, you do not own your property either in having to pay personal property tax. Even if house (and even vehicle) is fully paid off, you still pay taxes!

I believe that this announcement was made to make Canadians aware and used to the idea that they are not entitled to private property. A very good Canadian friend explained to me how all this was going to happen almost three decades ago. When Bill C-124, which is an amendment to the currency act was passed in 1993, it allowed for the Minister of Finance to authorize the Minister for The Exchange Fund Account whom works for the IMF to seize all public and private assets by any means necessary if Canada defaulted on its National Debt and other international obligations. The Minister for the Exchange Fund Account is then authorized to deal with the assets seized to credit the IMF account then Credit CANADA with a new currency system. Most Canadians at the time had no interest in this seemingly benign piece of legislation until you start reading the details its a real shocker for Canadians. I got a photocopy from this friend way back then and still have it. I looked for it online and can't find a link so Canadians interested can read it for themselves and see that I am not exagerating about the wording in Bill C-124. Its quite obvious that the New World Order minions are planning the financial RESET for Canada and everything is already in place to do it. I believe that their National Debt is 1.33 Trilliion dollars which can NEVER be repaid.
As such, I suspect that the apparatchiks in the Biden Admin will invoke some obscure banking law that no one has ever heard of, a law that has been on the books for decades that would basically put all of us in the same financial peril of losing everything. Fortunately we have the 2nd.
