A Uvalde teacher said active shooter training set children up "like ducks" for the gunman.

Arnulfo Reyes told Good Morning America that he had his kids hide under a table before the massacre.

The shooter killed 11 of his students, as well as another 8 children and two adults.

A wounded Texas teacher whose 11 students were killed in the May 24 mass shooting in Uvalde said active shooting training set the children up "like ducks" for the gunman.

"It all happened too fast. Training, no training, all kinds of training — nothing gets you ready for this," Arnulfo Reyes told Good Morning America in an emotional interview that aired on Tuesday.

Reyes was teaching his fourth-grade class in room 111 at Robb Elementary School on the day a gunman burst into the school, and massacred 19 children and two adults.

He said his students were watching a movie after an end-of-year celebration when they heard gunshots. Reyes says he told the children to hide under the table and act like they were asleep. But the gunman burst into the room and opened fire, shooting Reyes twice and killing all of his students.

"We trained our kids to sit under the table, and that's what I thought at the time. But we set them up to be like ducks," a visibly upset Reyes said. "You can give us all the training you want, but laws have to change."

He said he "tried his best" with what he was told to do, and tearfully apologized to the families of his students.

Reyes told GMA that he felt "absolutely" abandoned by police that day and said there's "no excuse for their actions."

Texas officials have come under intense criticism for the way the shooting unfolded, and how they have handled the aftermath — making over a dozen changes to the timeline of the massacre.

Police officers were at the scene within minutes of the school shooting but delayed over an hour before confronting the gunman in a school classroom. Texas law enforcement has deflected blame to the school police chief, who allegedly wouldn't send in officers because he thought kids weren't in danger anymore.

You can give us all the training you want, but laws have to change.

What laws you stupid fucking spic? The laws making possession of any firearm on school property against the law? The laws making pointing a firearm at another person against the law? The laws making shooting people against the law?

How can a person be so stupid as to think adding another violation to the list of violations would solve anything? The penalty for what he did is already a death sentence and you think adding a minor felony onto that would stop it? Jesus fucking Christ people are unbelievably stupid.

Simple solution. Pile desks. Teacher shoots whoever attempts to enter door without verbal code. Worse case it's no worse than before. Best case, shooting is over or shooter goes to lower risk target location because they've been shot at.

"Wait here to become a sacrifice to moloch", is clearly an insidious and idiotic notion. Yet human sacrifice is precisely what the left demands.

It’s called “adding realism” to a concocted event. There is absolutely nothing organic about this.

I hate that I hate them. I really do.

EVERY TEACHER NEEDS A GUN!

BUT EVERY TEACHER CAN'T BE TRUSTED!

Imo, there was a whole police force complicit in the murder of those children. Not just the one murderer. They all murdered them children.

In an emergency, trusting the people in charge will usually get you killed.

In general, i have always thought the whole 'shelter in place' when a gunman was in the same damn building as absolutely retarded an completely counter-intuitive. Everyone pretend to be 'asleep under their desk' smdh. Always better to simply Gtfo of dodge - doors, windows , stairways, busting out internal sheetrock walls into hallways or another room etc - i'd even climb out onto the roof and stay there or risk going down the drainpipe if i had too. Simply staying put to basically wait for your turn as some goof wanders around shooting everyone is quite frankly peak demoralisation.

The fact that people were standing outside kind of says it all. That was a place they considered to be somewhat safe. Letting the kids out in a direction away from the gunman would make sense, but the school would then be liable for kids no longer on school property. Keeping them in the classroom may get them killed, but it ensures that the gunman is one entirely at fault. This is the problem with listening to people in charge when situations like this happen.

Yeah no doubt. I would rather my kids run like their ass was on fire than wait under their desk as a gunroom move through the premises shooting everyone. I mean, If 20 kids and 2 Adults burst out of the class and ran past/ away from the gunman down the corridor and out the doors - how many would he really get or hit, rather than him able to simply shoot them all one at a time at his leisure while they pretend sleep ?/. It's so fcking sad - and yes you're correct about listening to people in charge whose best advice is to do nothing and close your eyes.

Simple solution. Stop setting them up like ducks. Second, admit this is a mental health issue. Not a 2nd Amendment issue. Done.
