VA denied me care and a murder of nurses crowed around doing nothing but lecturing me as I was dying in the parking lot trying to crawl to the doors because I arrived after valet service was discontinued until I was able to 'cross the threshold' on my own and enter the front doors of the hospital. Then they left me in a chair to do paperwork until the other people waiting in the ER started yelling at them to actually help me.
The local EMS / FIRE services now REFUSE to take vets to the va, and only deliver us to private hospital in emergency situations. I had tried to goto the VA ER because the VA had been refusing to pay the bills when EMS took me to private hospitals because I didn't "get permission first"
Thank GOD and TRUMP that he changed the rules and now the VA has to pay for ALL ems services as long as you report it within 72 hours after the fact & it was medically necessary, so they can't try to financially force you into their ER's of death... where they try to use any reason that they can to delay and deny. and where they refuse to treat you until you code, so they can then they 'revive' you and try to keep you on expensive life support as long as possible,
As the nurses explained to me, unlimited life support is legally pre-approved & makes the hospital lots of money in their budget, but you have to jump through a million hoops to get any care done before that, which is deducted from bonuses of the top management whom nurses and doctors are not allowed to directly communicate with, but must navigate a maze of middlemen to get anything productive done.
I'm sitting in a private ER right now, waiting for the VA to respond to the doctors so that they can send me home with prescriptions that will keep me from having to coming right back into the er once I leave. I'm stable and taking a bed someone else could use, but they aren't allowed to let me leave with medicine unless the VA approves it, or they will deny payment... so they get to pay for an unnecessary extended hospital stay instead.
I don't understand how spending 5k$ to try to save 5$ & putting veterans health and lives at risk is not fraud waste and abuse, but is instead considered standard practice.
I've been in the hospital for 2 days now, and STILL have not even been ASKED for my VA ID by the private hospital. apparently they are concerned about getting all the health stuff figured out FIRST and then later deal with the financials. Funny how the VA has that ass backwards.
Also, my doctors where all forced into Retirment or fired when Biden 'won' office. I haven't been able to see or talk to a doctor on my care team since then. All 'decisions' are made by political policies handed down from on high and rubberstamped by nursed and administrators. If you ask they will claim it was a doctor overseeing it, but refuse to give any names or paperwork to show that is the case.
Almost all the progress trump made at improving the VA has been reversed, and the only 'outlet' he have for receiving any kind of care at all is by using programs trump put into place that the new administration hasn't been successful at removing yet.
Patriot, sorry to hear what you are going through. Pray you receive great care and VA is not that place to find. They had a poster on their walls claiming Veterans are America's greatest treasure. I told another veteran no wonder they try to bury us.
Every veteran who commits suicide reduces the health care funds they have to spend out of their budget and makes them look better financially and earns the execs bigger bonuses. the only way I was able to to get a message to my nurse team was to call the suicide hotline and explain to them how i plan to kill myself when the va refuses to help me, as they have a direct line to help prevent us from following through with those plans.
