Let me tell you when you are at sea during operations - running port and starboard duty sections (that's at least 12 hours on - and usually 14 to 16 hours working), 2 meals a day is not cutting it, especially when you are up on the flight line. Usually, you are getting 4 meals a day - breakfast, lunch, dinner, and mid rats. You do not want to be hungry, tired, or anything else other than at the top of your game while on the flight deck (there are videos of guys being sucked into jet engines or being blown around by the jet blasts, or taking a header off the flight deck or catwalks). Just ask a pilot if they want a hungry and tired crew working on their airframe - possibly making mistakes. Dragging fuel hoses across the deck, loading weapons, etc.
