Durham made a deal: There is a short list of scapegoats he can throw under the bus, mostly from the Clinton campaign and maybe some lawyers. On the other side, he will whitewash DOJ, FBI and the intelligence community.

It seems that Sussman doesn't like his role in this game because he is used to the rule that his kind can do every crime without ever getting in trouble. He will get used to it and get his rewards later, or he will get silenced.
