Brother, the French Royal pain in the ass along with the Church profited from the theft of the Templars wealth. And the French Royal pain in the ass did not have to pay back the debt he owed the Templars. Partners in crimes with a long criminal history.

The Templars worked for the Papacy. The French, particularly Clovis gave the Papacy power and rule over all of Europe. Many a time time the Papacy used the French military to fight it's battles. Imagine how much the King was paid for that service.
