OP: The government is always lying to us about everything. You can't trust anything they say.

Also OP: The government said something I agree with. You should totally trust the government on this thing I agree with.

If they are allowing this information to be seen by you, then they want you to see it. Don't you understand what they are doing here? You're watching the right hand carefully but completely ignoring what the left hand is doing.
