brother, Chrysler was owned by Daimler Benz, they sport the Bosch CPU, when the were acquired back in early 2000' s the German engineers had revamped the entire product line with the " German wiring, vendors" it still that way. As a tech at the time we were flabbergasted an auto needed 6 more computers then in previous yrs. Also there are more wireless entry points than Blutooth.
it is now owned by FIAT, and has been for some time.... and nothing has changed...
van hool , prevost ,Volvo , commercial buses. Bosch inter face, real time Gps, can control steering, braking, accel. Over rides driver when coming down a grade, accelerating to pull a grade. Applies rt or left side brakes if negotiating twisty road. kill switch, cameras microphones, does a third man IP hop to all wireless devices being operated within a certain distance. Been operational for 7 yrs. Self driving? No, beta functionality . Enough to deadman all control of the driver tho. Similar to what can be done in an aircraft, aircraft are easier, no un expected pedestrians or drivers slamming on brakes. I'm characterizing real-time experience, repair maintenance ,testing. All that being said, all Chrysler products have crap wiring, daughters first Jeep wouldn't start if it rained, water behind the Speedo would cause canbus crash, '12 Sahara I belive.
