From wiki

The orders original objectives were to help its members find employment and aid them while unemployed. Membership was open to white males over 18, without physical or mental handicaps, who were able to write and support themselves, were law-abiding of sound moral character and of the Christian faith.

Doesn't sound that bad. You do know that not all masons and secret organizations are evil. Right?

But surely these 'lower order' ones are used to scout for 'talent' and people who might qualify for 'promotion' for being good little secret keepers?

You do know that not all masons and secret organizations are evil. Right?

I would say that depends, not gross evil but they are opposition to Christian belief and faith. In that sense they are evil and of the devil, at least for many Christians.

In Scotland membership in one of these societies is grounds for excommunication in the more conservative Christian churches such as the one in Tong on the Isle of Lewis (I've been there twice and have many friends in this church) where Trump's mom is from.

Just adding to the convo, not trying to be a wise guy or argumentative.

Edit: Lord McKay was disciplined by these conservative churches for attending a funeral because they had mass.

Sure. Sometimes. But not always.

they are opposition to Christian belief and faith.

So the Christian belief is that, if you're not a Christian or don't believe in Christianity you are evil? Or if you are in a secret organization you are evil because it's not Christianity?

It's the internet man. Say what you want.

York Rite Masonry requires a belief in Christ's divinity and to be a Christian to join.

>they are opposition to Christian belief and faith.

>Sure. Sometimes. But not always.

That's incorrect, it's not doctrinally or theologically correct, unless you follow some washed out heretical 'leaders.'

>So the Christian belief is that, if you're not a Christian or don't believe in Christianity you are evil? Or if you are in a secret organization you are evil because it's not Christianity?

Actually, pretty much, yes.

If it's all so 'Noble", then why does it all need to be conducted in secret?

What are they hiding?

Jesus never did anything in secret. <
