I heard something similar about North Dakota back in 2013 & they had an economic boom there - McDonald's starting wage jumped to $15/hr there & that's kinda what kicked off the 'Fight For 15' campaign. But then a few years later I read stories online about how bad drugs, prostitution & the bar scenes became, because there wasn't anything that else to do in bumfuck N. Dakota.
