Female swimmers and their families need to stand up and state that men should be banned from women's sports.
At one point in life I was a not very good competitive swimmer and a kids swim coach. From the statement by the 17th place swimmer:
I am convinced that she is no different than me or any other D1 swimmer who has woken up at 5am her entire life for morning practice. She has sacrificed family vacations and holidays for a competition.
I'm not so sure about this. I know what a good swimmer looks like and Thomas's stroke sucks. One underwater shot of Thomas shows one hand with finger together during the freestyle and one hand with fingers apart. Fucking competitive five year olds don't do shit this sloppy. Maybe he's had terrible or disinterested coaching, but I can recognize when someones stroke is inefficient. I'd need better video shots than I could find in order to offer proper advice and analyze where the inefficiency is coming from. There is a reason he was ranked like 400 among the mens swimmers despite being a tall lanky person.
Frankly I think it's funny what he's doing. I don't consider it cheating if it's allowed by the rule book. Far too many mediocre women in college get full ride scholarships because title IX is interpreted to mean that if you give scholarships to the (mens) football and basketball teams then you must give an equal number to women athletes. College then use the football and basketball scholarship to promote their brand on a national level and to meet diversity quotas.
When I was in college I knew a guy on the wrestling team who was an Olympic qualifier and could do crazy athletic shit like standing back flips and climbing a rope with one hand. He got zero scholarships and had to drop wrestling to finish his education. Meanwhile our women's softball team got a brand new stadium and every single bitch on the team was on a full ride scholarship. Fuck that noise.
