It's less violent then that, but the existing regime will resort to the same measures sooner or later. Totalitarians always resort to engineered famines, camps, and mass murder of political enemies. Always. Every single time. At the risk of being wrong, the latest date we will begin to see this start to happen (if J6 wasn't enough of an indicator), will be no more than 18-24 months.
