The quality has nose dived in the last month or so. Not even regarding censorship, but searching for programming questions and getting redirected to "CONGRATULATIONS YOU'RE THE 10,000TH VISITOR TO THIS SITE COLLECT YOUR PRIZE!" websites in the first page of the results.

Dirty little secret: DDG is and always was Bing, just without the alleged tracking mechanisms (cookies, etc).

It used Bing’s algo from day one.

You just thought it was based because they said they weren’t tracking you.

I started noticing some disappearing act stuff re: vax info last year on DDG, but now that they're outright blocking high readership real news outlets directly, that's taking it to a whole new level. :-( It reeks of how the NY Post was blocked all over the universe after they broke the Hunter laptop story in Oct. 2020.
