He leaves the court yelling "I'm not suicidal. I'm innocent." What the judge said prior to sentencing: The judge called out Jussie on his hypocrisy. He says Jussie craved the attention and knew social injustices were a hot button. He used his stunt to make himself more famous. Says that although he has a good side to him, he has shown incredible arrogance, selfishness and narcissism. There is nothing worse than a hate crime and says Jussie has done damage to legitimate victims of hate crimes. The Judge talks about this being a premeditated crime -- notes that he went as far as to write a script for the fake hate crime. Judge talked about his high level connections - politicians, media and says he used those connections to amplify this story. Says the harm that occurred to his reputation and career was self inflicted. Judge considered his prior community service and calls for mercy from Jessie Jackson and others to go a bit easy on him.
