I wish I'd had the money to sue back in the day. About 17-18 years ago, I applied, interviewed for, and was sent a letter stating I'd been hired and given a start date for a library branch manager position. Three days before my start date - I had already quit my previous job - I was called and told I no longer had the job. A black woman was going to sue them if she was not given the job.
Apparently, she had heard through the grapevine that I was white. She was not as qualified but they were terrified of her. I didn't have enough money to do anything because now I had to scramble to find a job to survive.
It was only the start of the 'wokeness' (before it was named that) that drove me from my first career.
I am glad she has the resources to stand up for herself.
Dear god, please destroy the black people. Amen.
That is horrible! OMG, I am so sorry that happened to you. It's BS they gave that job to someone else -- and then told you why they caved. Companies need to stand up to the woke bullying.
I was surprised that they were honest with me but the director who hired me was livid that she was being pushed around by the people higher up. She wanted me to know that I was more than qualified and actually recommended me to a couple of other libraries in the state, but at that point I was so fed up with Connecticut and other things I was dealing with there, I applied for jobs out of the state and moved.
I'm glad you were able to move on. Horrible story.
No one goes to CT because they want to be there.
