I have a couple of comments: First: Internet communications are fairly stable in Kiev, and most points West of Kiev, also Odessa. However, quite shaky in places fully surrounded by the Russians, especially where power is turned off. Internet communications, or even cell phone data, from the Ukrainian military encircled in Donbass and Luhansk, which is most of the Ukrainian military, are mostly limited to Russian broadcasts only coming out of there. We get vid from Russian forces, and nothing from the Ukies for several days now. My guess is they are mostly either out of power, or they are dead or captured. Perhaps the comms are being jammed on the front lines too. Second: About the arms: In Soviet times, Ukraine was the main staging area for the Soviet tank armies for invading Western Europe. Ukraine itself was the forth largest weapon producer in the world. Per Soviet military doctrine, there are massive stockpiles of all of this older arms and equipment, and especially supplies, food, fuel, and ammunition, etc.. That is also true in Russia as well. The Red Army was radically downsized in terms of manpower after 1991, but all of that surplus older equipment remains behind in huge stockpiles. For every old tank the Russians or the Ukrainians abandon in the field, there are 100 more back in the garage, many still in factory new condition, still in the original wrappers. One of the reasons why the Russian civilians in Donbass put up such a stiff resistance to the Ukrainian military the past eight years is every grandmother in Donbass owns her own rocket launcher. This is actually closer to the truth than otherwise. Ukraine doesn't have a lot of new stuff other than that provided by the West, and Russia is using it's older stuff too, but slightly better than the Ukrainians, perhaps to keep NATO from learning more about the new equipment they do have. Both Russia and Ukraine have also been selling off this hardware to third parties for the last thirty years, and they still have mountains of it left over.
