Too much hopium and people choosing not to think about the worst scenario is way more dangerous than facing what is happening head on. Black pills are necessary or people will not do anything but sit and wait for things to get better. Things can’t get better if people don’t fight.

Exactly! I mentioned to someone today that too many of us are looking at public voices for leadership. We need to lead ourselves. We need to organize around very specific issues - and spread that outside of this sub.

Personally, I have nothing else to do but sit back and hope. I'm old and have no real family to speak of, and my situation couldn't get much worse as it is.
But I'm curious about what you mean by your last sentence. What do you think people should do to fight back?
Get active in local politics. Become a poll worker or poll watcher. Write and call your Reps and elected officials. Campaign for candidates and against bad candidates. Attend zoning hearings when there are matters that encroach on citizens rights and private property rights.
