Actually, in "Dave", the President had a stroke/heart attach while banging his side-chick. "Dave" stepped in at the request of the Chief of Staff to carry out the CoS's agenda. At the (State of the Union or Congressional Inquiry), "Dave" faked the stroke, the real President was taken to the hospital, and later died. The CoS was caught up in the corruption that initiated the Congressional Inquiry.
GREAT movie. Loved it the first time I saw it.

Except in the movie the VP doesn't get the job because he's insane. Same here.
I beg to differ. In the movie, the VP (Ben Kingsley) is set up by the CoS but during the Congressional Inquiry (or whatever it was), Dave gives him a BIG vote of confidence and I 'think' he becomes Prez after the real Prez passes away.
Yes. But initially they convinced Dave to take the job because they claimed the VP was mentally unstable.
