I agree; it is a big deal. But almost 100% coverage seems a bit much for a site where memes and cute kittens are the norm. Maybe unrelated but I have been on 9gag for many years and I have seen a big push against some groups a few years ago, mostly anti-vaxxers and flat-earthers. I know they always have been the butt of the joke, but the attacks ramped up massively only over a couples of months. And now, we have the clot-shot banging at our doors... What is next? Aliens? Maybe I'm just crazy; but in this day and age, who isn't?
