Here are some thoughts on the situation in the Ukraine.
Obama has succeeded spectacularly! Russia with the Ukraine is just the Monroe Doctrine in reverse - Russian style. Putin probably could care less if he was able to extract an absolute guarantee over the Ukraine not joining NATO, or if he had to take it over himself. The US has done the same repeatedly with the various coups in Centeral America.
However, in the current respect, Russia get the Ukraine, and Obama gets
1) higher energy prices worldwide in one fell swoop;
2) a major grain producer off the production table for at least a while;
3) the middle east gas pipeline stalled - well at the expense of Nordstrom #2 pipeline also stalled, but the end result is no additional natural gas going to Europe;
4) with Biden having pulled the plug on the US energy independence - the US is not in a position to load up LNG tankers and send them to Europe, thereby making Europe even more dependent on Russian natural gas;
5) with Europe moving to renewable power (solar and wind), they will not be returning to coal - especially with their coal plants being dissembled;
6) a large self-inflicted gash to the US economy, the US is in no position to help at all - other than to wine and cry;
7) with the US having the reserve currency status - this is another notch carved in the currency/economy demise.
8) US imposed sanctions will just become yet another reason to abandon the current inter-bank system the US uses to impose restrictions on money/currency flow.
It's a win, win, win, all the way around for Obama and Biden gets all the mud. The progressives, democrats, left along with the RINOs have to be celebrating all the way to the bank.
