Anons, This is todays email...
"I’m Dr. Mustafa Santiago Ali. I’m a climate activist and a member of Climate Power’s national advisory board.
My grandmother always told me, “when you know better, you do better.” Right now, we are in a transformational moment, and my grandmother’s words are a reminder not to give up your power. Because when we remember the power we have and come together collectively, there is nothing we can’t do.
We have the power to demand economic opportunities that help to heal our country, that help to heal the planet and our most vulnerable communities. We have the power to tell our government to meet the needs of the moment while preparing us for the future. We have the power to ensure we resource communities in the spaces and places that are too often overlooked. Each and every one of us has power: we can demand Congress take climate action now. Contact your senators right now.
I’ve been a part of the movement for environmental justice for almost three decades and learned from some of the first leaders in this space. In that time -- thanks to people like you and me standing up and speaking out -- we have come a long way. I’ve kept justice as my North Star, standing up programs and offices dedicated to environmental justice at the EPA as well as with the White House and federal agencies. With the Hip Hop Caucus and the National Wildlife Federation, I’ve continued working alongside communities of color on the frontlines of the climate crisis who are speaking up for clean air, water, and soil.
Action for climate justice is simple: Moving our most vulnerable communities from surviving to thriving. Click here to tell your senators to act now.
It is past time to invest in bold climate action. To resource frontline communities dealing with the impacts of toxic pollution and climate-induced extreme weather. To put money back in working families’ pockets. To make real change happen.
We can ensure that solutions leave people whole, not left behind. We can tackle the climate crisis while lowering costs for families, creating good-paying jobs, and investing in frontline communities. Contact your senators now to demand they take bold climate action now.
Let’s make 2022 the year to tackle environmental racism and protect the lives & health of Black, Brown, Indigenous, and lower wealth communities. -Mustafa
