During a Tuesday interview with Trump, Beck, a conservative talk show host, asked when he knew he was being spied on and how he knew for sure.

“I think it was a combination of things,” Trump responded, “but I tell you, the world blew up [when spying allegations were floated during a 2016 television program].”

The Western Journal reports that during the 2016 campaign, “somebody suggested on a television show that then-President Barack Obama’s White House was spying on the Trump campaign.”

“I felt there was something strange going on, really strange, and I just put it out,” Trump told Beck.

Trump revealed:

“I got a call like two minutes later from the head of communications saying … ‘the wires are burning up. They’re smoking.'” The spike in phone activity was particularly unusual because it was a Saturday.

Trump has no doubts regarding what prompted the increased chatter:

“And now I know why,” Trump asserted, “because, they said, ‘Oh my God, they caught us.'”

If you go look at the twitter thread attached to the video you will see the following comment:

The Durham report was not about wire tapping. It was just that the campaign got legally available DNS info. The report is pretty damaging to Trump Becuase now we know they were using Russian burner phones.

This is haw they plan on spinning this and we need to get out in front of it. They are assuming most folks will have no clue about the technical details.

1) They are trying to depict "DNS records" as public info. This is clever double speak. "DNS Records" are public. "DNS traffic" is not. Although DNS traffic is typically not encrypted and easily snooped on, the actual act of snooping on the DNS traffic is a crime.

2) The Trump team was PAYING THIS FIRM TO SECURE THEIR DNS TRAFFIC. Everyone knows DNS traffic is not secure so there are "Secure DNS" services out there. Team trump was literally paying this firm to be a trusted service provider that would hold this data secure and instead this firm sold it to the Hillary campaign.

3) They are trying to triple down on the Russian collusion charade. Russian burner phones... lolz. This should be mocked with no mercy.

There is nothing legal about spying on the US President. There is nothing legal about spying on a Presidential candidate. Watergate come to mind?
